The brief

NatWest needed a studio portrait series featuring a diverse mixed-race child aged 7–12. The brief covered a wide range of scenarios — listening to music, using a credit card, interacting with tech, and natural expressive portraits. Shot on a plain grey background, everything needed to feel warm and approachable with soft, natural-looking light and no harsh shadows.

The approach

Everything was lit to feel natural — soft, even, and shadow-free. We worked through multiple outfits and scenarios in a single day, covering the full range of expressions and product interactions the client needed. The plain grey background kept the focus entirely on the subject and made the images easy to use across different formats.
